- Definition:
A linear-pair is a pitch-class connection between a pair of linear-notes at some structural level.
The first element of the pair is called the linear predisplacement and the second, the linear diplacement.
Komar indicates, however, that two adjacent pitches in adjacent time-spans do not necessarily form a linear-pair (Komar, 1971).
