Definition:
Kirnberger's term for simple 4/4 meter. In measures of this
type, the four beats receive the following metric weight:
strong, weak, medium, and weak respectively. The notated
measure therefore functions as a metric unit. In
large 4/4, by contrast, the half-bar functions as the highest metric
