Definition:
One of the six types of metrical feet of Classical poetry,
consisting of two long or stressed syllables. It corresponds
to the fifth of the medieval
rhythmic
modes,
although when used in conjunction with other such modes the long notes
in it must be considered to be in a 3-to-1, rather than a
2-to-1, relationship with short notes.
